Jakob Schüller

Jakob Schüller, 1928

Jakob Schüller (born June 26, 1905 in Duisburg ; † missing since World War II) was a German sprinter .

On September 4, 1927, in Hanover, together with Hubert Houben , he succeeded in setting the world record set in 1921 by the American Charles Paddock over 100 meters for 10.4 seconds. During this time he also set the European record held by Helmut Körnig since the previous year (1926), which was equalized by six other Germans (ten times by Georg Lammers alone ) by 1932 .

Schüller's specialty, however, was the 200-meter run . Over this route he was champion in 1925 and runner-up in 1927 and 1928. Over 100 meters he could not place in the top three.

At the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, he started over 200 meters. He won the preliminary and the intermediate run in 22.0 s each, and in the semifinals he came third in 22.1 s. Since the first three of the two semifinals progressed, he was qualified for the final. There he came in sixth and last place in 22.2 s.
