Jakob Troost

Jakob Troost (born October 5, 1820 in Winnekendonk , † April 16, 1899 probably in Emmerich ) was a Catholic theologian.

Life

In 1873 Troost took up the office of pastor at the St. Martini Church in Emmerich and in 1889 became dean . For 24 years he worked as a pastor and campaigned for the maintenance and further equipment of the Martini Church. During these years he made great contributions to the hospital and school and also held the office of orphan father .

Honors

In 1897, on the occasion of his 50-year ordination as a priest, he was granted honorary citizenship of the city of Emmerich. There is also Jakob-Troost-Straße named after him in Emmerich .
