Jakow Chajim Sofer (* 1870 in Baghdad , † 1939 in Jerusalem ) was a Charedic rabbi , Talmudist , Posek and Kabbalist . He is the author of the monumental halachic work Kaf Hachajim (published 1910 ff.), Under which name he is also known as a person.

From an early age he devoted himself to Talmudic studies. He was first a student of Abdalla Sommech and later a student of Ben Isch Chaj . Since 1904 he lived in Jerusalem, first learned in the yeshiva Bet El and then until the end of his life in the yeshiva Shoshanim Ledawid , where he wrote the eight volumes of his main work, mostly included in the women's department and far from secular distraction. At that time he was also Aw Bet Din of the Babylonian churches. Thousands of people attended his funeral.
