James Allen (writer)

James Allen (born November 28, 1864 in Leicester , England ; † 1912 ) was one of the first authors of books on personal development and motivation as well as one of the most famous authors within the Neugeist movement .

Life

Allen saw his father ambushed and killed at the age of 15. As a result, he had to leave school and work to support his family. He later made it to the manager of a company. At the age of 38 he withdrew from the world of work to follow his idol Leo Tolstoy and to spend all of his time writing. James Allen died in England in 1912 at the age of 47.

Publications

During his time as an author, he mainly wrote books that explain the power of thoughts on our lives and should motivate us. His best known work is As A Man Thinketh . It is considered a classic book on the right way of life. The book was published in German under various titles a. a .:
