James Anthony Brown

James Anthony Brown (born January 5, 1950 ) is a British politician , former Chief Minister of the Isle of Man and a member of the House of Keys for Castletown . He has chaired the first chamber since 2006 .

Life

Brown is a trained electrician and owner of Tony Brown Electrics in Castletown. Since 1976 he has been an elected member of the Castletown Commissioners , of which he became chairman in 1980. In the general election in 2001 he was spokesman and in 2002 even deputy president of Tynwald . He is married and has two grown children.

When he was elected Chief Minister in 2006, his name did not appear at first. After a ballot with three candidates , in which none of the three could be agreed, a second ballot was started with only one candidate, namely Tony Brown, in which it was easier to find a candidate - again Brown. By law he had to give up his spokesman's office in the House of Keys after the successful election. Resigned as Chief Minister of the Isle of Man on September 29, 2011, Allan Bell was elected as his successor.
