description

The two-storey clinker brick building with artificial stone elements , which is now a listed building, is in the neo-renaissance style of Villa Kolbe to the south . The building has a "picturesque, irregular elevation with saddle roofs in the shape of hooks". One corner of the building has a towed roof where a former loggia was added, and there is a bay window in one of the gable tops .

history

The building owner of the house was the chemist Carl Kolbe (1855–1909), general director of the chemical factory von Heyden , who had a house built for the gardener in 1893, also based on designs by the Berlin architect Otto March . The building was inside the nursery , the ground floor was surrounded on three sides by greenhouses , which have now been removed, as has the nursery chimney.

In 1926 the nursery site was sold to the city of Radebeul for the construction of double houses. The multi-storey residential development on Meißner Strasse was built in 1955.
