James Borland
James Andrew "Jimmy" Borland (born March 25, 1910 in Manchester , † January 31, 1970 in Montréal , Canada ) was a British ice hockey player who was among other things Olympic champion in 1936 with his country.
Career
James Borland, who emigrated to Montréal , Canada with his family as a child , returned to Great Britain in 1933 , where he received a contract with the Grosvenor House Canadiens , with whom he won the English League in his first year . After the defender had temporarily suspended ice hockey for a year, he played from 1935 to 1937 as team captain for the Brighton Tigers in the English National League , where he subsequently ended his career. Then he returned to Canada.
Because of his services to British ice hockey, Borland was inducted into the British Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993.
International
For Great Britain Borland took part in the 1934 World Championships and the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen .
