James Burty David

James Burty David (* 1951 ; † December 13, 2009 in Port Louis ) was a politician from Mauritius .

biography

He was elected for the first time in December 1976 as a member of the Mauritian Labor Party (MLP) as a member of parliament (Assemblée Législative), where he represented the constituency of Belle-Rose-Quatre-Bornes until his electoral defeat in 1982 .

After he had retired from politics for almost thirteen years, he returned to political life in January 1995 and ran together with the then Foreign Secretary Paul Bérenger in a by-election in the constituency of Stanley-Rose-Hill . Finally, in December 1995, he was elected Member of the Legislative Assembly for the constituency of Port-Louis-Grande Rivière Nord-Ouest .

James Burty David was most recently Secretary of State for Local Government , Rodrigues and the Outer Islands in Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam's government .
