James H. McClellan

James H. McClellan (born October 5, 1947 in Guam , non-incorporated territory of the USA) is an American electrical engineer and professor of signal theory at the Georgia Institute of Technology . Among other things, he made contributions in the field of digital signal processing , especially in the field of digital filters and their design methods. In 2004, together with Thomas W. Parks , he was awarded the IEEE Jack S. Kilby Signal Processing Medal for the development of the Parks – McClellan algorithm .

Life

McClellan graduated from Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1969 , a Master of Science degree in 1972 and a PhD from Rice University in 1973 . From 1973 to 1975 he worked at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory , in 1965 he became a professor of electrical engineering at the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), followed by various positions in industry. Since 1987 he has been a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
