James Spithill

James Spithill (born June 28, 1979 in Sydney ) is an Australian sailor. As a helmsman he was three times a participant in the Louis Vuitton Cup . He is also match race world champion and won the 33rd America's Cup in 2010 with the BMW Oracle Racing Crew . This made him the youngest winner in America's Cup history. On September 25, 2013 Spithill succeeded in winning the America's Cup a second time, even though his team was already 8-1 behind. This victory is considered one of the greatest comebacks in sailing history.

In 2014 he was voted World Sailor of the Year .
