James Thomas Hooker
James Thomas Hooker (born March 18, 1931 , † December 7, 1991 ) was a British classical philologist and mycenaean .
After studying Classical Philology in London, Hooker was lecturer at TBL Webster and the Indo-European and linguist Oswald Szemerényi , then a reader at University College London .
He mainly worked on the linguistic development of Greek from the Mycenaean to the Archaic level ( Homer ), but also on Mycenaean and Spartan history and culture .
One of his students at University College London was the mycenologist Gareth Alun Owens .
