Jan Felderhof

Jan Reindest Adriaan Felderhof (born September 25, 1907 in Bussum , † March 4, 2006 in Laren ) was a Dutch composer and music teacher.

life and work

Felderhof studied violin, school music and composition at the Amsterdam and Utrecht Conservatories.

From 1934 to 1954 he taught at the Conservatory and the Folk Music School in Amsterdam. From 1958 he was active again at the Amsterdam Conservatory, since 1968 in the function of adjunct director. At the same time he worked from 1944 to 1954 as director of the Tonkunstmusikschule in Bussum . He was also director of the Rotterdam Conservatory from 1954 to 1955 and also taught at the Utrecht Conservatory from 1956 to 1967.

Felderhof also worked as a guest conductor.

Felderhof composed the comic opera Een serenade in St. Jansnacht. Orchestral works, works for choir and orchestra, three string quartets and numerous other chamber and piano music, as well as choirs and songs.
