Jan Hron (born September 17, 1941 ) is a Czech agricultural engineer, he was the rector of the Czech Agricultural University in Prague .

Life

Hron attended the Agricultural Technical University in Klatovy / West Bohemia from 1955 to 1959; From 1959 to 1964 he studied engineering at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Agricultural University in Prague. In 1969 he obtained the academic title CSc. at the Faculty of Economics and Management. The dissertation with the title: Leadership and qualification procedures in agricultural holdings in 1977 followed a lectureship at the Czech Agricultural University in Prague and a habilitation thesis with the title Analysis and Project Planning of Organizational Systems in Agricultural Holdings . In 1988 he received the academic title of Dr. Sc. at the University of Economics in Prague and in 1989 a professorship at the Czech Agricultural University in Prague.

1977–1988 Hron was a lecturer, on the chair for management at the Faculty of Economics and Management. 1985–1989 he was Vice Dean for Science and Research at the Faculty of Economics and Management and in 1984 Chairman of the Chair for Management at the Faculty of Economics and Management. From 1990 to 1991, Hron was Pro-Rector for Science and Research of the Czech Agriculture University in Prague and has been professor at the Faculty of Management at the Faculty of Economics and Management since 1989, and from 2000 to 2003 he was Dean of the Faculty.

In 1994 he was elected rector of the university to succeed Jiří Petr . He held this office from 1994–2000 and 2003–2010, with Jiří Balík as his successor as rector .

Hron was President of the Czech Academy of Agriculture and Chairman of the Commission on Economy, Management, Sociology and IT. He is on the editorial board of the journal "Agricultural Economics" and the Czech Society for Research and Case Studies, the Czech Engineering Academy, the WACRA (World Association for Case Method Research & Case Method Application) and the European Association for International Education. During his rectorate years 1994–2000 and 2003–2009, he was a member of the Czech Rectors' Conference.

Hron is the author of around 350 specialist publications, including 63 research reports, 45 textbooks and scripts, and 38 international titles.
