Johannes Wilhelmus "Jan" Peters (born August 18, 1954 in Groesbeek , Gelderland ) is a former Dutch football player .

Club career

Peters began his career as a professional footballer in 1971 at NEC Nijmegen . In 1977 he moved to AZ Alkmaar. There he was Dutch champion in 1981 and three times cup winner . In 1982, he became the Italian club Genoa in the Serie A transfers. From there he moved to Atalanta Bergamo for one season in 1985. In 1986 he returned to NEC Nijmegen, where he ended his professional career in 1988. He then played for the amateur club De Treffers for two years until the end of his active career .

International career

Between 1974 and 1982 he played 31 times for the Netherlands and scored four goals. At the European Championship in 1976 in Yugoslavia , he was in the Dutch squad and was used in the game for third place.
