Jan Segers

Jan Baptist Segers (born January 1929 in Mechelen , Belgium ) is a Belgian composer , conductor , musician and editor .

Life

He studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels and Antwerp . For many years he was conductor and Kapellmeister with various military music corps in Belgium . Since 1960 he has been director of the Municipal Music Academy in Willebroek , Belgium. He also works as a music director for BRT Rundfunk. He is also in demand as an artistic advisor for music recordings on CD or for radio or television recordings. He is also available to amateur musicians as a conductor and jury member at national and international competitions. For a short time he was also the conductor of the BRT Chamber Orchestra.

With his compositions, mostly commissioned works, he has already successfully won many composition competitions.
