Jan van Heelu
Jan van Heelu lived in the 13th century and was a poet, possibly from the then Duchy of Brabant .
He is known for his Rymkronyk , which he wrote about 1288 to 1294 for Margaret of England, daughter-in-law of Duke John I of Brabant , and wife of John II of Brabant . This contains a description of the Battle of Worringen that was created in real time . It is available in the version by Jan Frans Willems, published by M. Hayez in Brussels in 1836. Based on this edition, the text was first translated into High German by Frans W. Hellegers in 1988 and published in the exhibition catalog Der Name der Freiheit .
