Janet Fraser

Janet Fraser (* 1955 ) is a British translator . She taught translation at the University of Westminster and worked as a translator for companies such as Johnson Matthey .

Career

Fraser studied from 1973 to 1977 at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh , Scotland , successfully studying modern languages ​​( interpreting and translating ) and in 1983 she received her German translation degree from the Institute of Linguists. In addition, Fraser received a French Translation Degree in 1988, also from the Institute of Linguists. In the following years she completed two master’s degrees. On the one hand the course Language in the Multicultural Community at Thames Valley University and on the other hand Modern German Studies at Birkbeck College of the University of London .

Fraser has held various teaching activities since 1977, for example as a lecturer in translation at the University of Westminster or as an English lecturer in translation and interpreting at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig in the former GDR . She also worked as a translator for companies such as Johnson Matthey and the British Gas Corporation.

Fraser has been working as a freelance translator, reviewer, proofreader and trainer since 2010.
