Joannes Baptista Dolar
Joannes Baptista Dolar SJ (also: Dollar, Tollar , Tholarius ; Slovenian: Janez Krstnik Dolar , * around 1620 in Kamnik ; † February 13, 1673 in Vienna ) was a composer and priest.
Dolar attended the Jesuit college in Ljubljana and came to Vienna as a novice in 1639. Here he studied philosophy at the university and received minor orders in 1642. Between 1645 and 1647 he taught at the Jesuit College in Ljubljana, after which he continued his studies in Vienna and was ordained a priest in 1652.
From 1656 to 1658 he was musical director of the Jesuit College in Ljubljana. After stays in Passau and Győr, he was appointed to Vienna around 1661 as director of the Jesuit seminar Saint Ignatius and Pankratius and musical director of the convent church Am Hof .
He composed masses and misereres as well as sonatas and ballets . His compositions appeared in two printed editions: Musicalia varia (1665) and Drammata seu Miserere mei Deus (1666).
