Janina Abramowska

Janina Abramowska (born August 29, 1933 in Ostrów Mazowiecka ) is a Polish literary historian and theorist whose work focuses on the historical poetics of old Polish literature.

Life

Abramowska finished her studies in Polish studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan in 1955 . She then worked as an aspirant at the Instytut Badań Literackich Polskiej Akademii Nauk until 1958. Since 1962 she has worked at the Institute for Polish Philology at Adam Mickiewicz University, where she has been professor and head of the Institute for Historical Poetics (Zakład Poetyki Historycznej) since 1990 is working. Since 1993 she has been a member of the Scientific Council of the IBL and the Komitet Nauk o Literaturze Polskiej PAN.
