Janique Brüning

Janique Brüning (* 1976 ) is a German law scholar and professor at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel .

Life

Brüning began studying law at the University of Hamburg in 1995 , but switched to the University of Kiel in 1996 , where she passed her first state examination in law in 2000. She then worked until 2002 as a research assistant for Thomas Rönnau at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg. She completed her subsequent legal clerkship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg with the second state examination in 2004. In 2003, she was in Kiel with one of Heribert Ostendorf supervised publication for the judge's reservation to Dr. iur. PhD. After teaching at the Bucerius Law School, Brüning worked there as a research assistant, first to Frank Saliger , then to Erich Samson . In the 2008/09 winter semester she was a professor at the University of Greifswald .

In May 2014, after two parental leave, Brüning completed her habilitation procedure in Kiel, whereupon the University of Kiel awarded her the Venia legendi for the subjects of criminal law, criminal procedure law, commercial criminal law and sanctions law. Since the 2016/17 winter semester she has held the full professorship for criminal law, criminal procedure law, commercial criminal law and sanctions law at the University of Kiel, as well as the director of the Institute for Criminal Sciences.

Brüning is married and has a son and a daughter.

Brüning's research focuses primarily on white collar crime and criminal procedural law. Here, as indicated by her dissertation and numerous articles, a special focus is on the judge's reservation.
