Erich Samson

Erich Samson (born October 29, 1940 in Hamburg ; † June 11, 2014 in Kiel ) was a German law scholar and university professor.

Life

Samson grew up in Berlin and Eschwege . He studied law in Göttingen , Marburg and Bonn . He completed his studies in 1963 with the first state examination at the Cologne Higher Regional Court . 1967 Erich Samson was the work certificate and proof sign: the embodied thoughts declaration as a feature of the criminal deed concept doctorate and laid a year later, in 1968, the second state examination. Samson completed his habilitation in criminal law (including criminal tax law ) and criminal procedure law in Bonn in 1971 . He turned down calls to Frankfurt am Main, Bielefeld, Salzburg and Munich.

In 1984 he founded the Institute for Environmental, Commercial and Tax Criminal Law in Kiel, of which he was director until 2002. In 1980 he founded the magazine “ wistra ” for commercial and tax criminal law, of which he was the publisher and editor-in-chief until his death. Furthermore, from 1992 to 1998, Samson was the spokesman for the graduate school he initiated for the German Research Foundation on national and international environmental law . Samson was co-editor of the series "Writings on the entire economic criminal law", the series "Kieler writings on criminal law" and co-founder of the "Systematic Commentary on the Criminal Code".

As a criminal defense attorney, Erich Samson has represented numerous prominent clients, including a. Uwe Barschel , Paul Schockemöhle , Hans Peter Daimler , Boris Becker , Karlheinz Schreiber and Gerhard Schmid .

His students include law teachers such as Heribert Ostendorf (Kiel), Wolfgang Joecks (Greifswald), Roland Schmitz (Osnabrück), Thomas Rönnau (Hamburg) and Thomas Rotsch (Gießen).

After his retirement in Kiel, he took over the chair for commercial and tax criminal law at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg as well as the management of the Center for Legal Didactics. In 2007 he held a position as of counsel at the international law firm DLA Piper . In April 2008 he was elected judge at the Schleswig-Holstein State Constitutional Court. In 2010, Samson retired and since then has taught and researched as an affiliate professor at the Bucerius Law School.
