Roland Schmitz

Roland Schmitz (born August 31, 1959 in Kiel ) is a German professor of criminal law with a focus on commercial and criminal tax law. He is currently professor at Osnabrück University and managing director of the Institute for White Collar Criminal Law at Osnabrück University.

Life

Schmitz studied law in Kiel and obtained his doctorate there in 1991. jur. From 1988 to 1990 he was a research assistant at the former Institute for Environmental Protection, Commercial and Tax Criminal Law at the University of Kiel with Erich Samson .

Between 1990 and 1992 he completed his legal clerkship in the district of the OLG Schleswig .

From 1993 to 1998 he was a research assistant with Erich Samson. In 1998 he completed his habilitation in the areas of criminal law and criminal procedure law. From 1999, Roland Schmitz was senior assistant at Samson. In 1999 Schmitz was offered a professorship at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). He held a chair there in the winter semester of 1999/2000 and was finally appointed university professor in 2000.

In the same year, he was appointed to the chair for criminal law, criminal procedural law and secondary areas at the University of Bayreuth . There he was appointed university professor in the winter semester 2000/2001.

In 2009 he was offered a position at the University of Osnabrück . Here he was appointed university professor on April 1, 2010.

In addition, Schmitz has been the editor of wistra - the journal for commercial and tax criminal law - since 1993 .
