Wolfgang Joecks

Wolfgang Joecks (born June 20, 1953 in Rendsburg ; † August 9, 2016 ) was a German criminal lawyer specializing in economic and tax criminal law and a politician ( SPD ). He was a professor at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University in Greifswald .

Life

Joecks studied law in Kiel from 1974 to 1978 and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD . From 1974 to 1984 he was also a research assistant at the Institute for Environmental Protection, Commercial and Tax Criminal Law at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel with Erich Samson . Between 1985 and 1988 he worked in the finance ministry in Kiel and in the federal finance ministry in Bonn. Joecks then worked as a lawyer and specialist lawyer for tax law in Frankfurt am Main from 1989 to 1992 , before becoming a professor in Greifswald in 1992. From 1997 to 1998 he was vice dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, then dean of the faculty until 1999. From 2006 to 2008 and again since 2013 he was Vice Rector for Teaching, Studies and Further Education. Since January 2008 he has also been a judge at the state constitutional court of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

On June 7th, 2009 he was elected to the citizenship of the Hanseatic City of Greifswald for the SPD and has also been Deputy Mayor of Greifswald since 2014.

Wolfgang Joecks died on August 9, 2016 at the age of 63.
