Janusz Meissner

Janusz Meissner (born January 21, 1901 in Warsaw , † February 28, 1978 in Krakow ) was a Polish military aviator and writer.

Meissner began his military career as a military aviator in Dęblin and later became the commander of the Cracow Aviation School . In 1939 he fled to Great Britain via Romania and France. From 1942 to 1944 he was a member of the Polish government in exile and from 1944 to 1946 an officer in the Royal Air Force . In 1946 he returned to Poland and lived in Zakopane , later in Krakow.

Meissner wrote many books on maritime and aviation topics. In the German language, his trilogy The Adventures of Jan Kuna, called Marten ( The Black Flag , The Red Crosses , The Green Gate ) is particularly well known .
