For the transcription of the Japanese script into the Latin alphabet, various systems have been developed, the systematics of which are based on the 50-sound table . The following systems are widely used:

The Polivanov system was developed for the transcription of the Japanese script into the Cyrillic alphabet .

Japanese Braille was developed as a transcription for special purposes for the blind and people with severe visual impairments.
