Jason Lee Taylor (born October 12, 1985 in Kettering ) is a former English football player .

Career

Taylor belonged to the youth division of Rushden & Diamonds , in 2004 he moved up to the professional division of the fourth division and made his debut in September 2004 as a substitute in a goalless draw against Oxford United . In the second leg against Oxford on Boxing Day , his first competitive goal followed in a 3-3 draw. By the end of the season, he had made 21 competitive appearances, but only five of them were in the starting line-up. In the storm, coach Ernie Tippett and later Barry Hunter relied on more experienced players than the tall Taylor, who stood out above all with his "tight ball control". After Taylor's role as a substitute had not changed during the first half of the 2005/06 season and had again scored his third competitive goal against Oxford in one of his few starting eleven, he declined to extend his contract, which was due to expire at the end of 2005. He continued his career instead in the sixth class Conference North at Nuneaton Borough , which was supervised by longtime Rushden coach Roger Ashby . Even at Nuneaton, Taylor did not get beyond the role of supplementary player, after 15 competitive appearances (1 goal), including only four starting eleven, he was not offered a new contract at the end of the season.

He continued his career from summer 2006 at Rugby Town in the Premier Division of the Southern League , after convincing there in friendly matches. In his first season he scored 24 goals this season, 16 of them in the league, and was voted player of the year internally by both the fans and the coaching staff. A knee injury sustained towards the end of the season worsened in the pre-season and Taylor had to undergo cruciate ligament surgery, which made him miss the entire 2007/08 season. After his recovery, he was unable to make the jump to the starting line-up and followed his previous coach Rod Brown to the Bromsgrove Rovers in November 2008 , as he hoped for more starting eleven there. Only a few weeks later he was back at Rugby Town, but did not make it into the starting line-up and left the club after 18 season appearances in the league, without exception by substitution, in April 2009 for league rivals Banbury United . There, too, his time was marked by injury problems, in March 2011 he was relegated to another league when he moved to Arlesey Town . Persistent injury problems subsequently caused his career to be interrupted, which he continued until 2015 in the divisions of the United Counties League at Raunds Town , Wellingborough Town and Thrapston Town (23 games this season, 11 goals).
