Jay M. Cohen (2005 as Rear Admiral )

Jay M. Cohen (* in New York ) is a former US officer in the United States Navy who later also served as a government official. He served as Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Science and Technology in the Department of Homeland Security from August 10, 2006 to January 2009, when President George W. Bush ended his term in office .

Cohen joined the US Navy in 1968 after graduating from the United States Naval Academy . He was most recently Rear Admiral ( Rear Admiral ) in the service position Chief of Naval Research . In February 2006 he retired; a few months later he was named Secretary of State under Secretary Michael Chertoff by President Bush . After leaving government, he became a member of the Board of Directors of the Chertoff Group , a consulting firm founded by former Minister Chertoff.
