The Jbel Bou Naceur is at 3356 m the highest mountain in the Middle Atlas in Morocco . There are more three thousand meter peaks in its vicinity - z. B. the Jbel Bou Iblane (approx. 3137 m) and the Jbel Mousa ou Salah (3172 m).
location
The Jbel Bou Naceur is located near the border between the provinces of Boulemane in the Fès-Meknes region and Guercif in the Oriental region . An ascent is best possible from the villages of Tirnest in the south or Tinesmet in the north. The closest town is Outat El Haj .
Flora and fauna
A characteristic tree on the north flanks and in the valleys of the Middle Atlas is the now rare Atlas cedar ; there are also other conifer species, especially pines . Wild sheep and goats once lived on the barren plateau. a. Berber leopards were feeding - the last was sighted in 1989.
