Otto-Eberhard Zander

Otto-Eberhard Zander (born April 27, 1944 in Göttingen ) is a retired German officer and political scientist .

Life

After graduating from the Max-Planck-Gymnasium , Zander joined the army in 1965 . He was personnel officer for internal leadership and political education in Kiel, personnel officer at the headquarters of the Allied Land Forces Schleswig-Holstein and Jutland in Rendsburg and press officer at the information and press office of the Bundeswehr in Berlin. From 1980 he studied pedagogy , political and social sciences and psychology at the Distance University in Hagen . In 1987 he completed his studies with a Magister Artium . He was retired as a lieutenant colonel in the Bundeswehr in 1994 .

In 1996/97 he was a guest student, from 1998 a student of political science and modern and contemporary history at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . With a doctoral thesis on the traditions of the Bundeswehr and the National People's Army , he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. From 1996 he worked for the Military History Research Office , the Federal Academy for Security Policy and the press and information staff of the Federal Ministry of Defense . From 2001 to 2005 he was a lecturer in the social sciences department of the Bundeswehr leadership academy . He came to the Institute for Political Science of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen through Peter Lösche in 2003 . Since 2012 he has been a lecturer at the Göttingen Institute for Democracy Research .

Zander mainly deals with the 19th and 20th centuries. The publications and master’s seminars of recent years have been about Otto von Bismarck , John F. Kennedy , Wolfgang Natonek and Willy Brandt .
