Jean-Baptiste Courtois
Jean-Baptiste Courtois (* around 1627 in Saint-Hippolyte (Doubs) , Franche-Comté ) was an Italian church painter of French origin.
He was a son of the painter Jean-Pierre Courtois . He came to Rome in 1639 with his brothers Jacques and Guillaume .
Courtois entered the Capuchin Order (religious name Giovanni Antonio da Sant'Ipppolito) in 1659 . He decorated the Capuchin convent at Capo le Cae in Rome with devotional pictures. A copper engraving with a self-portrait of him is known, on which he is shown in a habit on his easel.
His works have only a modest artistic level.
