Jean-Baptiste Mendy

Jean-Baptiste Mendy (* 16th March 1963 in Dakar , Senegal ) is a former French boxer in the lightweight Senegalese descent. He successfully made his professional debut in 1983. In 1992 he beat Antonio Renzo and became European champion.

On April 20, 1996 he defeated Lamar Murphy unanimously on points and thereby won the vacant WBC world title. In May 1998 he took Orsubek Nazarow from the world championship belt of the WBA with a points win and at the same time brought him his first and only defeat.
