Jean-Claude Guillebaud (born May 21, 1944 in Algiers , then France , now Algeria ) is a French author , essayist and journalist .

Life

Guillebaud began his journalistic work at the French daily newspaper Sud Ouest and then went to Le Monde and the weekly newspaper Nouvel Observateur . At the Nouvel Observateur he wrote, among other things, in the television supplement about the world of the media before he took over the post of Jacques Juillard as column writer there in 2010 . He reported on society and political life in France for the Catholic weekly La Vie .

Since mid-2008, Guillebaud has been on the supervisory board of the Groupe Bayard press group . In the early 1970s he was the managing director of Reporters Without Borders for some time . Since the late 1960s he has written more than two dozen books, some of which have been published in German.
