Jean-François Caron

Jean-François Caron (born May 21, 1957 in Loos-en-Gohelle ) is a French politician of the Europe Écologie-Les Verts party . He has been mayor of his hometown Loos since 2001 .

Life

Jean-François Caron is the son of Marcel Caron, who was mayor of Loos from 1977 to 2001 as a representative of the Parti socialiste .

He is a trained physiotherapist and passionate marathon runner , which is why he and Philippe Lamblin founded the Route du Louvre in 2006 , a sporting and cultural event in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region .

In May 1990 Caron was involved in founding the Génération écologie , an ecological party. He was a member of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais Regional Council from 1992 to 2015; from 1998 to 2004 he was Vice President responsible for the environment. He joined the Loos local council in 1995, where he was responsible for spatial planning and the environment as a councilor. In 2001 he was elected mayor of Loos, succeeding his father Marcel, who had been in office since 1977.

As in 2014, he has no opponent in 2020.
