Jean-Jacques Reubell
Jean-Jacques Reubell (Rewbell) (born August 12, 1777 in Colmar , † January 24, 1847 ) was a French general during the coalition wars .
Life
Jean-Jacques Reubell was born on August 12, 1777 in Colmar, Upper Alsace . He joined the French military and was promoted to Sous-lieutenant on April 23, 1792 , and quickly worked his way up. In 1796 he was already chief de bataillon , in 1807 he switched to the service of the Kingdom of Westphalia under Napoléon Bonaparte's brother Jérôme and on December 8, 1807 he became general de brigade , a year later general de division and chief of the general staff .
During his time in the Westphalian Army, the battle at Ölper took place on August 1, 1809 , during which the Westphalian troops under his command did not succeed in defeating the Black Group under Friedrich Wilhelm von Braunschweig and preventing their further move through northern Germany . Thereupon he was removed from his post by Napoleon and moved to America , where he stayed until 1817. In the year of his return, he became commandant of the Haute-Saône department . On July 21, 1836, he took his leave.
Reubell was a knight and officer of the Legion of Honor and a knight of the Ordre royal et militaire de Saint-Louis .
