Jean-Louis Schoellkopf

Jean-Louis Schoellkopf (* 1946 in Colmar ) is a French photographer who lives in Saint-Étienne .

life and work

In 1974 Schoellkopf moved to the industrial and working-class town of Saint-Etienne. By photographing housing estates and their residents, he accompanies the changes in his adopted home. The change of cities, houses and factories is the recurring theme in his work. He not only photographs architecture , but also food just before preparation. Schoellkopf's portraits are in the tradition of a new objective approach by August Sander, for example .

In 2015 Schoellkopf began taking photos in Ludwigshafen am Rhein and has since documented the everyday life of the working class there in times of industrial change .
