Jean-Luc Dengis

Jean-Luc Dengis (* 1950 in Herstal ) is a Belgian numismatist .

At the age of 12, Dengis found two Roman coins that sparked his passion for collecting. At first he embarked on a career as an officer in the Belgian army. He then devoted himself to numismatics, where he became one of the best-published Belgian numismatists of his time.

Dengi's specialty is the processing of both new and historical coin finds in Belgium, which he publishes in the book series Trouvailles et trésors monétaires en Belgique, broken down by region and epoch . He is an expert on coinage in Wallonia in Belgium and wrote standard works on the coins of the Diocese of Liège and the Abbey of Stavelot-Malmedy . Dengis was President of the Royal Belgian Numismatic Society from 2008 to 2011 . He lives and researches in Vielsalm .
