Jean-Paul Autin

Jean-Paul Autin (* in Grenoble ) is a French jazz musician (saxophone, bass clarinet ).

Life

Autin first played in ensembles that dealt with traditional music (1972–1979) and only then turned to jazz and new music theater. He is a co-founder of the "Cie de rue Musica Brass", which performed political street music and created an "AvantGarde Républicaine" (1980–1988). With François Raulin he played world jazz in the group "Amalys". He also performed with the French-Swiss group SMAC between 1984 and 1990. In the Artrio project he went on tour with juggler Jérôme Thomas and tambourine player Carlo Rizzo and accompanied the chansonette Michelle Bernard (1990–1991) as well as Steve Waring (1987–2001). Between 1984 and 1990 he played with Jacques Siron in the quartet SMAC .

Since 1986 he has been a member of the Lyoner Association à la Recherche d'un Folklore Imaginaire (ARFI), where he first became a member of the big band “La Marmite Infernale”, but also with the “Workshop de Lyon” (in which he replaced von Louis Sclavis moved), the wind trio "Apollo" (with Alain Gibert and Jean-Luc Cappozzo ) and plays in "L'Effet Vapeur". He is also involved in the ARFI audiovisual events. He continues to work in the tradition of Luc Ferrari and Henri Fouré with contemporary music.
