Jean Aubain

Jean Aubain (born February 1, 1928 in Bordeaux , † December 28, 2015 in Versailles) was a French composer and music teacher.

Aubin began his musical training at the Conservatory in his hometown and studied from the late 1940s at the Conservatoire de Paris with Suzanne Plé-Caussade , Olivier Messiaen and Tony Aubin . In 1955 he won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome with the cantata Le mariage forcé by Charles Clerc (after Molière ) .

After the stay at the Villa Medici in Rome (1957–1960) associated with the award, he succeeded Raymond Gallois-Montbrun as director of the Versailles Conservatory in 1963 . After his retirement in 1996, Paul Méfano became his successor.

Aubain composed a. a. an opera, a marche burlesque for orchestra, a clarinet concert and chamber music works.
