Raymond Gallois-Montbrun (born August 15, 1918 in Saigon , † August 13, 1994 in Paris ) was a French violinist and composer.

Life

Gallois-Montbrun studied from 1930 to 1942 at the Conservatoire de Paris violin with Firmin Touche , harmony with Jean Gallon , counterpoint and fugue with Noël Gallon and composition with Henri Busser . After a Second Grand Prix in 1942, he won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome in 1944 with the cantata Louise de la Miséricorde .

After the stay at the Villa Medici in Rome (1946 to 1948) associated with the award, he attended courses for violin and composition at the Institut Francais in Tokyo from 1952 to 1954 . From 1944 he traveled as a violinist through Europe, North Africa, the Near and Far East and made radio and recordings.
