Jean Cabassu (born August 1, 1902 in Marseille , † November 29, 1979 ibid) was a French football player .

Career

Cabassu began playing as a midfielder for Olympique Marseille in 1917 at the age of 15 . With the club he won a local championship a year after starting his career and in 1919 he won the Provence title . In 1920 he turned his back on the club and moved to FC Lyon , where, however, as there was no professional football in what was then France, like in Marseille before, he was only on the pitch as an amateur. He kept in touch with his previous station and continued to play for Marseille in friendly matches; In 1921 he returned there.

With Olympique he made it into the national cup final in 1924 , was one of the eleven players in his team and won the first title of his career due to a 3-2 success against FC Cette . In the same year he left Marseille again when he joined Stade Français . Like his time in Lyon, his stay at the Paris club ended after a year after he had previously played friendlies for Marseille again.

In 1925 Cabassus finally returned to Marseille; he was able to build on the previous success in the cup by conquering the trophy in both 1926 and 1927. This was followed not only by four regional championship titles, but also by winning the French amateur championship in 1929 , which at that time corresponded to the national title. In 1931 Cabassu ended his career at the age of 29.
