Jean De Groot

Jean De Groot (born November 27, 1948 ) is an American philosopher .

Life

She earned a BA summa cum laude from the University of Oklahoma (Major: Philosophy. Minor: History of Science) in 1970, an MA in History of Science from Harvard University in 1971 and a Ph.D. from Harvard University in the history of science (PhD thesis: Aristotle and Philoponus on Light). She teaches at the School of Philosophy at the Catholic University of America (1984–1993 Adjunct Assistant Professor, 1994–2000 Assistant Professor, 2000–2008 Associate Dean, 2000–2015 Associate Professor, since 2015 Professor ).

Her research interests are Aristotle, ancient philosophy, history and philosophy of science, Edmund Husserl , Ludwig Wittgenstein, and American philosophy.
