Jean Filliozat

Jean Filliozat (born November 4, 1906 in Paris , † October 27, 1982 ibid) was a French medic and Indologist .

Live and act

He studied medicine ( ophthalmology ) and was a doctor from 1930 to 1947. He also learned Sanskrit , Pali , Tibetan and Tamil . He mainly specialized in the history of Indian medicine, but also dealt with other topics. In one of his works he examined the symbolism of Phnom Bakheng in Cambodia . In 1972 he was elected a corresponding member of the British Academy .
