Jean Heather (born February 21, 1921 in Omaha , Nebraska , † October 29, 1995 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actress .

The then 23-year-old Heather made her film debut in 1944 as Lola Dietrichson alongside Barbara Stanwyck in Woman Without Conscience , directed by Billy Wilder, and thus celebrated a brilliant debut in the film business. In addition, Heather played in the same year on the side of Bing Crosby in the Oscar-winning The Road to Happiness . After that, things calmed down for the actress, not least due to a serious car accident that damaged her good looks. Before she retired from acting in the late 1940s after only eight films, she played the leading female role in the western Daring Men in the Saddle in 1947 . She was married to the engineer Arthur F. Meier from 1944 until his death in 1985, and she herself died ten years after her husband at the age of 74.
