Jean IV. De Vergy
Jean IV. De Vergy († March 1461 a. St.) was Seigneur de Fouvent , Saint-Dizier , Vignory , La Fauche and Port-sur-Saône .
Jean IV. De Vergy was the son of Guillaume III. de Vergy, hereditary Seneschal of Burgundy, and Isabella von Rappoltstein as well as the nephew of Antoine de Vergy , Count of Dammartin and Marshal of France .
He inherited the office of Seneschal at a young age from his father, who died in the Battle of Nicopolis in 1396 . Later he was also governor of Burgundy and councilor and chamberlain to the King of France and the Duke of Burgundy. In 1433 he was accepted into the Order of the Golden Fleece .
Jean de Vergy married Marie de la Rocheguyon († after 1480) on May 18, 1437, daughter of Guy de la Rocheguyon and Perrette de la Rivière. The marriage remained childless. He was heir to Charles de Vergy, a second cousin who also received the office of Seneschal of Burgundy.
