Vignory is located in the French region of Grand Est in the Haute-Marne department . The village with 243 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) belongs to the Chaumont arrondissement and was the center of the canton of Vignory until 2015 . It has belonged to the canton of Bologne since March 2015. Vignory lies in a small side valley of the Marne and is overlooked by the ruins of a castle built in the 11th century by the Norman knight Raoul Barbeta.

Attractions

The church of St-Étienne , which was built between 1032 and 1057 with a priory, is of cultural and historical importance . It is an example of Romanesque architecture in the 11th century. A square bell tower, crowned by an eight-sided helmet, has two crossed twin arches on each side of the two upper floors.
