Braux-le-Châtel is a French commune with 145 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Marne department in the Grand Est region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Chaumont and the canton of Châteauvillain . In addition, the community is part of the company founded in 2003 Municipalities of Les Trois Forêts . The inhabitants are called Brozéens / Brozéennes .

Braux-le-Châtel is located east of the Brauzé around 68 kilometers southeast of Troyes and 15 kilometers west of the small town of Chaumont in the west of the Haute-Marne department. The municipality consists of the village of Braux-le-Châtel and is largely covered by forest in the eastern half.
Neighboring municipalities are Vaudrémont in the northwest, Autreville-sur-la-Renne in the northeast, Bricon in the southeast, Orges in the southwest and west and Aizanville in the northwest.
history
Until the French Revolution, Braux-le-Châtel was within the Bailliage de Chaumont . The parish belonged to the Chaumont district from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801 it has been part of the Chaumont arrondissement. From 1793 to 1801 the place was assigned to the canton of Bricon. Since 1801 the municipality has been located within the canton of Châteauvillain (called Ville-sur-Aujon until 1814).
