geography
The small community of Vraincourt is located on the upper Marne west of the Bassigny countryside , 13 kilometers north of the departmental capital Chaumont . The 3.48 km² large municipal area extends from the left bank of the Marne in the east over the flat, about one kilometer wide Marne valley to the edges of two chains of hills in the southwest. Except for the woods on the slopes of these hills, the municipality is forestless. In Vraincourt, the two rivers Ruisseau d'Oudincourt and Ruisseau du Pré le Prêtre flow into the Marne from the southwest and west. To the east, the municipal area touches the Canal entre Champagne et Bourgogne, which runs parallel to the Marne . Neighboring municipalities to Vraincourt (clockwise, starting from the north) are: Soncourt-sur-Marne , Viéville , Bologne , Lamancine and Oudincourt .
