A book dedication shows that he was, at least for a time, probably in a certain way Dependent relationship with a Conseiller du Roy at the court of Louis XIII. was called Anthoine de Nicolay. Saulnier wrote on various subjects, including theology and medicine , but mostly textbooks on the Spanish and Italian languages and grammar . He also wrote short stories , including erotic content.

Rediscovery

In particular, his Introduction en la langue espagnolle from 1608 was exposed to stiff competition from the Grammaire espagnolle by César Oudin , first published in 1597 and already edited several times. This contributed, among other factors, to the fact that Saulnier's works fell into complete oblivion. It was only through the new editions of the Introduction en la langue espagnolle and the Nouvelle grammaire italienne et espagnole from 1624 in 2012, as well as Seilheimer's dissertation on these two works, that today's readers and linguists were again aware of them .
