Jeci Lapus

Jeci Aquino Lapus (born April 13, 1953 in Concepcion , Tarlac Province ) is a Filipino manager and politician .

biography

The son of Colonel Jesus R. Lapus studied civil engineering at the Mapua Institute of Technology after attending school and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Civil Engineering). He later took a course in construction management at the Asian Institute of Management . He then worked as a civil engineer in several private construction companies and for government agencies. From 1974 to 1976 he was project engineer at RK Development & Construction Co. and then until 1978 project director of United Coconut Planters Bank . From 1979 to 1981 he was Deputy Managing Director of United Plaza Properties Inc.

In the following years he was an employee of Ironcon Builders, Inc. , the National Irrigation Administration and the National Sports Academy. After working as a responsible employee in the department for project supervision and engineering examination in the tourism authority ( Philippine Tourism Authority ) from 1993 to 1993 he was until 1998 Vice President and responsible director of the National Agri-Business Corporation . Between 1998 and 2005 he was President of the TODO Foundation Inc. , before he was Director of PCI Leasing and Finance Inc. , Equitable Savings Bank Inc. and the Philippine National Oil Company from 2005 to 2007 .

He then began his political career in 2007 with the election to the House of Representatives of the Philippines ( Kapulungán ng mgá Kinatawán ng Pilipinas or Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ). As a member of the Lakas CMD ( Lakas-Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino-Christian Muslim Democrats ), he represents the electoral district III (3rd District) of the Tarlac Province . In this constituency he succeeded his older brother Jesli Lapus , who was appointed Secretary of Education in her cabinet by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on July 24, 2006 .

In the current 14th Congress , he is Vice-Chairman of the Committees for Good Government and Public Accountability, Information and Communication Technology and Public Information. As a representative of the parliamentary majority, he is also a member of the Committees on Agriculture and Food, Expropriations, Banking and Financial Mediation, Economic Affairs, Energy, Gambling and Amusement, Child Welfare, Transport and the Committee on Ways and Means .

In 2010, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in technology from Tarlac College of Agriculture .
