Jeffrey Otoo (born January 21, 1998 in Accra ) is a Ghanaian football player on the position of a winger and striker .
Since the summer of 2016, he has been part of the Atlanta United squad , which will not start playing in Major League Soccer , the highest North American soccer league, until the 2017 season . Up to this point in time it was sometimes awarded to the cooperation partner Charleston Battery in the United Soccer League .
Career
Jeffrey Otoo was born on January 21, 1998 in the Ghanaian capital Accra and began his football career as a child. From December 2015 he joined the men's team of the Ghanaian second division Charity Stars FC and scored 21 goals in 13 league appearances up to 2016. Due to his talent and the danger of scoring, the people in charge of the future major league soccer franchise Atlanta United , which will take part in the games of the highest North American soccer league from 2017, became aware of him. After a tournament in Cape Coast in January 2016 , in which eight Ghanaian second division teams took part, Otoo and his teammate James Arthur were particularly noticeable, whereupon the two trial training sessions in Italy were assured, which then never took place. Subsequently, Otoo's move to the USA was announced on June 1, 2016, being the third confirmed newcomer in the club's history after Alexandros Tabakis and Junior Burgos , who were both presented as commitments at the beginning of the year. Since he could not be used with his regular team, he was, like the rest of the already confirmed newcomers, loaned out to various other teams in order to collect match practice there until his use in the Major League Soccer. Like Alexandros Tabakis and Andrew Carleton , who was confirmed shortly after Otoo , the Ghanaian occasionally stayed with cooperation partner Charleston Battery in the United Soccer League , which is regarded as the second highest soccer division in the country. There he finally made his competitive debut on August 14, 2016, when he was substituted on for Ricky Garbanzo in the 58th minute of the 3-1 home defeat against FC Montréal . This was followed by four more league appearances in September 2016, although he did not play through any of them, but was always treated as a substitute by coach Michael Anhaeuser .
Play style
Otoo is described as a strong, powerful and fast young player. The left foot is praised above all for his powerful shots and is also considered an energetic player off the ball who does not shy away from duels. His selfless style of play is also praised.
